    Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. "Swallows and Amazons", past Arthur Ransome. Jonathan Cape, London. 1930, starting time UK edition get-go printing (truthful first edition, and not the 1931 illustrated edition). The book is firmly bound in blueish/green cloth, lettered in gilt, the spine and lath edges are faded, and the extremities are slightly bumped and rubbed. The text block is slightly foxed, toned and dusty, with a neatly written inscription to the front endpaper. Quite an attractive example of the rare true starting time edition of the first title in Ransome's famous series.

Ransome disliked the proposed illustrations by Steven Spurrier for the get-go edition, and it had been issued just with a frontispiece. Octavo. Finely leap by the Chelsea Bindery in dark green morocco, titles and decoration to spine gilded, raised bands, single rule to boards gilt, multi-coloured onlay to front board depicting the two flags and shield held up by pirates copied from the title folio, blue and greenish patterned endpapers with the original map endpapers leap in at front, gilt edges. The occasional small-scale blemish, an fantabulous copy in a fine binding.

    Hardback. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Maps by Stephen Spurrier (illustrator). Beginning Edition. First edition, kickoff impression in original grit jacket. The offset volume of the series, which is the near sought afterward and collectable of them. Hardback clothbound with aureate tooled championship to cover and spine. Original pictorial dust jacket, with flyleaves clipped but non priceclipped. Original price of 7s. 6d. cyberspace showing. Pictorial endpapers with coloured details. Illustrated frontispiece and vignette to title page. Extremities of cloth board a footling faded, too equally fabric spine. Textile spine edges a little bumped. Jacket spine a piffling darkened, and small darkening to very edges of jacket cover. Shallow loss to spine edges of jacket, affecting the border but non the text. Jacket still presents brightly with bright colours. Internally free from inscriptions, no foxing, and bounden is tight. Overall very good condition. 350 pp. Set in the summer of 1929, a year before the publication of the book, the story was inspired by a summer Ransome spent educational activity the Altounyan children to sail in the Lake District. Ransome had rejected Stephen Spurrier'southward illustrations, only keeping the iconic map for the endpapers and dust jacket. Ane of Britain'southward about beloved children's books, this start edition is a superb collectable detail. book.

    Condition: Virtually Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Proficient+. First Edition. HARDBACK - A nearly fine book that is very tightly jump with potent front and rear hinges. The blueish boards are clean with bright gilt lettering to the front boards, and to the spine. The inner pages are clean with just a hint of foxing to the page block, when the book is closed. The book is gratis of any previous owner names or Inscriptions. The dust wrapper is a very adept or amend example, with just miniscule chipping to the spine tips, and to the corners of the forepart and rear flap folds. There is some toning to the spine of the dust wrapper, but overall the wrapper is a very nice example, that has not been cost clipped, showing the correct toll of 7s.6d.net.

A fine copy, with slight ghosting to the spine through the dustwrapper as usual, in a fine (price clipped) dustwrapper, which shows a footling toning to the spine and fiddling article of clothing at its caput, just is exceptionally bright and well-baked. Pictorial endpapers in map design and map frontispiece by Spurrier. The beginning book in the Swallows and Amazons series and extremely rare in this condition.

    First editions, outset impressions. Complete get-go edition sets of Ransome'south Swallows and Amazons sailing adventures novels are rare. The first volume was published in an edition of merely two,000 copies (compared with the last book which of which the beginning issue probably numbered xi,000 copies). Wayne Thousand. Hammond records that "Swallows and Amazons sold slowly at showtime, taking two years to earns its accelerate of �100." Still, in 1948 "the house periodical of Jonathan Cape announced that the one millionth re-create, of the total copies printed of the twelve books in the 'Swallows and Amazons' serial, would soon be on sale". The first moving picture adaptation of Swallows and Amazons was released in 1974 including Virginia McKenna in the cast. A 2nd accommodation was released in 2016 starring Andrew Scott and Harry Enfield. A musical version of the book was premiered by the National Theatre in 2010. Occasional toning to spines of dust jackets, some light restoration (Swallowdale, Peter Duck, Coot Club and Dove Post), occasional light foxing (Winter Vacation) and toll-clipped with other pocket-sized loss (Nosotros Didn't Mean To Go To Sea), all with occasional foxing and extremities slightly frayed; else very good and bonny jackets.
